Kajol Recalls Shah Rukh Khan’s Advice When She Wanted To Quit Acting; ‘You’ll Have To Learn…’
Kajol, who will be seen in her next film Do Patti, recently revealed that Shah Rukh Khan pushed her to improve and do more films when she decided to quit the limelight.
In an interview with India Today, Kajol said that she had decided to quit acting after her third film ‘Udhaar Ki Zindagi’ because she was ‘tired’ of it.
“I was very new. I must have been about 17 or 18 at that time. And I remember, I finished the film. And I remember before that, Shah Rukh was like, ‘you know you just have to learn how to act’, she recalled.
“I was like, what is this? What is he talking about? Of course, I’m doing a fabulous job. But I did this film called Udhaar Ki Zindagi. And I’m finishing the film. And I remember turning around and telling my mother at that time, ‘You know, mom, I’m done,” Kajol added.

She further revealed that it was her desire at the time to do movies with songs and not films in which she had to cry and put glycerine.
“I don’t want to do these films anymore. I want to do, you know, four scenes, ten songs.’ I wanted to do such films. And I signed four films like that. So that’s where Gunda Raj, Hulchul, all these films came out from. I learnt the technique of acting after that,” she told India Today.
Kajol made her acting debut in 1992 with the film Bekhudi and fast forward 32 years, she has appeared in one of the most iconic Bollywood movies like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Baazigar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
She is currently busy promoting her new film Do Patti in which she plays a police officer’s role. The film also stars Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh and is slated for release on Netflix on October 25.
